You see that you can climb back up here. Do you wish to return to Red Larch? 2. The walls look as if they were quickly and crudely built. You recall the tales of the residents of Red Larch and wonder if you have stumbled upon a clue to the missing staff and orb. 3. The sound of footsteps echoes in the distance. 4. You find drying crumpled parchment and can barely make out the writing. It looks as though someone was experimenting with magic spells. A broken talisman lies on the floor along with empty vials and unidentifiable flora. You pick up a flower to identify it but immediately fall ill. 5. NPC Teskan Shaluk - You spot an aged man drawing maps as he rests. You inquire as to his name, wondering if he might be Alinster Crostrum. 'Nay, my friends. I am Teskan Shaluk and I too am in search of Alinster.' The man sighs heavily, 'as if the snow and mist obscuring any tracks and signs in Red Larch and Westbridge weren't bad enough, I have walked in circles here and grow weary of this journey. I decided that before something evil befalls me, I'd put my travels down on paper for others to study.' He then offers you a glance at his maps and wishes you well in your quest. He prays silently that the finder of the Orb of Life does not realize that the purple fist-sized gemstone contained inside the orb is in fact one of the nine Jewels of Neverwinter. 6. This looks like a good resting place. 7. Inconcievable! Giant Slugs and Purple Worms (53.9K exp) 8. The bodies stacked in the corner do not faze you...much. Red Dragons, Fire Giants, and Fire Giant Mages (40.4K exp) 9. Broken and rusty tools litter the floor of this room. You suspect they aided in the construction of this hastily built passage. 10. As you approach the end of the alley, fierce monsters charge at you. Your eye catches a glimmer of light emanating from a spherical object stashed away in the corner. Cloud Giants, Evil Clerics, and Beholder (36.4K exp) You regain your composure after the battle and step to the corner of the alley. You reach out and grab the sphere, wrapping it in your cloak and placing it safely in your pack. ORB OF LIFE 11. A rope has been lowered...Do you want to climb up? to Westbridge (12,12) 12. The cold and damp dungeon sends a chill through your bones. What if you can't find a way out. 13. By the looks of this room someone must have hidden down here quite a while. 14. Your hope that the creatures will not see you is misplaced. Earth Elementals (17.2K exp) 15. As you stop for breath, you shake your head and wonder if you are completely lost. 16. A few scattered bones and a seemingly untouched bag lie before you. You reach forward to open the bag. You recognized the magical aura and drop the bag before it harms you. 17. You spot the remains of a fellow adventurer. His pack has been searched and looted. 18. A decidedly unhealthy and very cold location! Yetis, Ice Hounds, and Remorhaz (13.5K exp) 19. You rest for a moment to regain your strength. 20. 21. A weak cleric reaches out to you. 'My friends, might you have a drop of imported water to share?' he asks. You offer a portion of your water and he speaks...'I've been down here close to a week. My supplies are gone, I'm tired, and I've gotten nowhere. I'm certain the staff and orb must be hidden down here. Why else would someone go to such pains to construct such an elaborate maze?' He thanks you for the water and closes his eyes to rest. 22. A blood stained altar lies before you. What unspeakable acts were performed here you cannot imagine. Inscribed upon its cobalt surface are the words: 'Lolth tlu Malla; Jal Ultrinnan Zhah Xundus!' 23. The walls are scorched and scarred and give evidence of intense magical energy being present here. 24. This room holds nothing but cobwebs now. 25. Blades to the front! Salamanders and Fire Elementals (19.8K exp) 26. The groaning of the elven spirit warns you of your impending doom. Banshees and Purple Worms (37.4K exp) 27. A woman stands over a bench with her hands raised in the act of casting some type of magic upon a staff. As you open the door, she turns and attacks. Sorceress, Stone Golems, Red Dragon (29.4K exp) You stride up to the leader of the group that tried to attack you and take the staff from her hands as the light dies from her eyes. 28. A burst of energy slams your body against the wall. As you fall to the ground you feel it part beneath your feet. You gather your belongings which have become scattered from the fall. You see a man to the west. You surprise a man who jumps to attention as you approach his secluded resting place. Around him are scrolls, stones, vials and other magic items. He appears old and tired and looks at you with reservation... in his eyes. 'Who are you and what do you want with me?' You explain to the man that you have come from Red Larch and Westbridge and seek the man by the name of Alinster . 'Yea? And what do you want of him?' he asks. You tell him of your good fortune in finding the Staff of Health and the Orb of Life. You explain you only want to help the people of the two towns by finding this man Alinster so that he can again weld the tow items so that their magic properties can again save the people. The man begins to speak. 'I have waited a long time, hoping that the staff and the orb would be found. I am Alinster Crostrum. I am the man you seek. I can tell your cause is sincere. Please, I will use my magic and forge the two items as one if you promise to hurry to Lord Nasher with the Lifegiver so that he may return them to the two towns and verify that the components are complete and safe to use.' Alinster breathes a sigh of relief when he sees that the polished amethyst inside the Orb of Life remains intact. 'Finally, one of the 9 Jewels of Neverwinter will once again be in safe hands.' You nod your agreement and Alinster prepares his magic. A white hot explosion bursts before you, its heat welding the two items as one. LIFEGIVER to Westbridge (12,12) 29. The door to the south is sealed shut. You do not see any means with which to pry it open. 30. The shadows here harbor nothing but a dead end. 31. Was that a glimpse of movement or your tired imagination? 32. The sound of dripping water echoes eerily off the walls. 33. The waning power of the Orb of Life forces the door to the east open allowing you passage. Do you wish to go through the door? ===> enter the room The ground seems unstable here. You feel as if you should return at another time. 34. The fierce magical energy you feel coming from beyond the door makes you wonder whether it's safe to venture beyond this point.
